”Stray cats were burned and their ears cut off...” 1 million won reward for reporting abuse - South Korea
Police in Busan have launched an investigation into suspected cases of brutal abuse of stray cats. An animal rights group that reported the case has even offered a reward for the capture of the perpetrators.
According to the Busan Animal Sarang Stray Cat Protection Solidarity (hereinafter referred to as the organization) at the Busan Gangseo Police Station on the 24th, the organization filed a complaint (animal protection) related to the abuse of stray cats at the Gangseo Police Station on the 19th of this month.
Prior to this, the group had received reports from February to this month that "stray cats had blood on their faces" and "cats were burned" in the area, and had begun investigating the scene.
The three stray cats that the group found had burns on their faces and scorched fur in places. Some of the cats had their ears cut off. The group suspected that someone had been abusing the stray cats with tools such as a torch.

After filing a police report, the group hung banners near the scene of the incident seeking citizens who may have witnessed the mistreatment of stray cats.
They also plan to make and distribute flyers. A reward of 1 million won (approximately 110,000 yen) will be paid to anyone who reports the case. The police have conducted a witness investigation of the organization that accepted the complaint.
After completing the on-site investigation, they are securing and analysing CCTV footage from the area to determine whether any stray cats had been mistreated.
