He served in the Ulsan District Court, Incheon District Court, Seoul Southern District Court, and Seoul Central District Court, and in 2009 became a judge in the corruption division of the Seoul High Court.
He is also known for his deep knowledge of the Constitution, having been dispatched as a researcher to the Constitutional Court in 2010. He subsequently served as the head of the Ulsan District Court and the Seongnam District Court of Suwon.
He served as a chief judge at the South Korean branch and joined the law firm Kumsung in 2017. He has also been active in the media, appearing as a panelist on TV news programs.
With the nomination of the candidate for director, the Public Prosecutors' Office has formed a preparatory team for the personnel hearing and begun support work. Candidate Wu said, "I feel a heavy responsibility to be nominated as a director at a time when the Public Prosecutors' Office is facing a difficult situation.
"The Supreme Prosecutor's Office was established to meet the public's aspirations and expectations of eradicating corruption among high-ranking public officials, but I am well aware that it has not fully lived up to those expectations over the past three years," he said.
He continued, "The Public Prosecutors' Office will act as an independent investigative agency both in name and in reality to check the authorities, fulfill its role and responsibility to root out corruption, and will carefully consider ways to gain the public's trust.
"As a candidate, I will sincerely prepare for the rigorous personnel verification process of the National Assembly, which is the representative body of the people."
