The San Diego Zoo, an organization under the umbrella of the United States Animal Welfare Organization, has signed a panda conservation agreement with the San Diego Zoo in the United States, beginning a 10-year cooperation.
The State Forestry and Grassland Administration said, "Wingchuan (male, 5 years old) and Xinbao (female, 4 years old)
"We have decided to select two pandas, two years old and two young ones, to send to the United States," he said. "The two pandas will travel to the United States accompanied by experienced keepers and veterinarians."
It has been learned that the US side is currently carrying out renovation work to provide a better environment for the pandas.
The San Diego Zoo is known as one of the top five zoos in the United States. The zoo even organized a specialized team to look after the new panda pair.
It has been learned that preparations for the rearing and management of the pandas are in full swing, but the exact schedule for sending the pandas has not yet been announced.
If the San Diego Zoo gets a panda, it will be the first since the last panda was returned to China in 2019.
The two pandas that were previously at the San Diego Zoo returned to China when their loan contracts ended in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
