昨年下半期、「出生未届け」の幼児45人のうち6人が死亡=韓国
Six of 45 unregistered infants died in second half of last year in South Korea
In South Korea, an investigation into the whereabouts of 45 infants who were born in the second half of last year but whose births were not registered has confirmed that six of them have died.
26 infants were confirmed to be alive, 12 infants are under police investigation, and 12 infants were mistakenly killed due to medical institution errors.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare said that among babies born between June and December of last year, those whose resident registration numbers were not registered in the integrated vaccination management system were given a temporary newborn number.
The administrative investigation of the infants recorded as having died began on the 27th of last month, and the results were announced on the 30th.
Of the 26 people whose bodies were found to be alive, 11 had completed their birth registration, and 9 had completed their parental marital status.
The registration is currently pending due to issues with the family, but is expected to be completed soon. Five of the children were registered overseas, and one was found to be in an automatic shelter following a police investigation.
One of the infants who was mistakenly reported due to a medical institution's mistake was a miscarried baby, but it was discovered that the medical institution had issued the wrong temporary newborn baby number.
First Vice Minister of Health and Welfare Lee Ki-il said, "The birth notification system and the childbirth protection system, which are systems to fundamentally prevent the occurrence of unregistered children, will come into effect on July 19.
"The bill is scheduled to be passed by the Diet, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that it is properly implemented."
