Although the index declined, it remained above 50, the dividing line between economic expansion and contraction, for the second consecutive month, indicating that the manufacturing industry continues to recover.
By company size, large companies fell 0.8 points from the previous month to 50.3.
The index for medium-sized enterprises rose 0.1 percentage point to 50.7. The index for small and medium-sized enterprises was 50.3, unchanged from the previous month. The index for production and new orders was 52.9 and 51.1, respectively, both remaining above 50.
The employment index was 48.0, down 0.1 percentage point from the previous month, while the non-manufacturing PMI, which covers construction and services, fell 1.8 percentage points from the previous month to 51.2.
The composite PMI, which includes both manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries, was 51.7, down one point from the previous month's 52.7, but remains above 50.
