The 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court held the fifth trial date for Yoo Ah In and an acquaintance, Choi, who were indicted on the suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act, smoking marijuana, abetting and abetting the destruction of evidence, on the afternoon of 14th (today).
Doctors from the Department of Mental Health Medicine who prescribed medical narcotics to Yoo Ah In attended the trial as witnesses. One of them, Dr Oh, revealed that Yoo Ah In had visited the hospital a total of 46 times over a four-year period from 29th June 2021 to 2024.
Dr Oh testified that "(Yoo Ah In) told us that he had a sleep disorder, that he was chronically depressed, that his heart was beating hard when he met people and that he was irritable" and that he came to the hospital to "breathe better and treat his phobia".
He continued that he also talked about wanting to escape from the filming location and was thinking about death, and that he had a serious level of depression, anxiety and other symptoms.
Yoo Ah In is suspected of habitually using a number of drugs, including propofol, mitazolam, ketamine, cannabis, cocaine, zolpidem and alprazolam on 181 occasions between September 2020 and March 2022; from May 2021 to August 2022, sleeping pills under someone else's name He is also suspected of illegally purchasing more than 1100 prescribed sleeping pills in the name of another person from May 2021 to August 2022.
He has admitted only some of the charges, including smoking cannabis and using propofol, in his previous trials. He has denied allegations of abetting marijuana smoking, abetting destruction of evidence, aiding and abetting violation of the Narcotics Control Act and fleeing abroad.
Yoo Ah In stated that the allegation that he attended court that day and recommended drugs to an acquaintance was "not true".
