Last month, a delivery worker in his 50s was killed after being hit by a Mercedes driver who was speeding down the road at the Danggok intersection in Sinlim-dong, Seoul.
The suspect, a man in his 20s, tested positive for stimulants after a detailed examination by the National Forensic Service, according to the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul.
Police are considering applying for an arrest warrant for suspect A on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Law. Suspect A was driving eight cars round trip in front of Dogani intersection at around 7:32 pm on the 13th of last month.
While driving a Mercedes on the road, he was speeding and collided with a delivery motorcycle in front of him. The motorcycle, which was delivering from a nearby restaurant, collided with a passenger car and fell over.
The motorcycle driver was dragged along by the car. The car quickly burst into flames, and the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but later died. During the accident, the Mercedes Benz collided with several cars parked on the side of the road.
The vehicle then stopped. More than 10 vehicles were involved in the accident, and suspect A and two other drivers were also injured. Since suspect A was not found to have been drinking at the time of the accident, the police requested a drug reaction test.
On the 15th, suspect A appeared at the police investigation in a wheelchair and was found to have denied the charges, saying, "I did not intentionally use drugs, I received alcohol from a stranger."
