Coinbase relists XRP in New York in partnership with state government
Global cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has resumed trading of Ripple (XRP) in New York State.
On the 23rd (local time), Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal
Paul Grewal announced via X (formerly Twitter) that users in New York state can once again trade XRP on exchanges for the first time in nine months.
"You can buy XRP again on Coinbase New York," he said, adding that "we worked in strong partnership with the state government."
Coinbase, Binance US and other exchanges faced scrutiny from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2020 after the agency filed a lawsuit against XRP, alleging that it was a security.
The exchange began relisting XRP in 2023 after a court ruled that secondary sales of XRP do not constitute a security.
However, despite the ruling, XRP continues to be subject to regulation in some jurisdictions and countries, including Japan and New York.
