The assessed value of Japan's net external assets, calculated by subtracting liabilities from foreign assets, was calculated to be 471.3061 trillion yen. This is an increase of 12.2% (51.3 trillion yen) from the previous year, and is the highest in five consecutive years.
Japan's net external assets (as of the end of last year) have been the largest in the world for 33 consecutive years. The country with the second largest net external assets after Japan is Germany (454.7666 trillion yen), and in third place is
