Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko said on the 30th (local time) that "preparations for President Vladimir Putin's visit to North Korea and Vietnam are progressing."
According to the Russian state news agency TASS and the German Press Agency (dpa), Deputy Foreign Minister Rudenko received a message from a reporter regarding "preparations for President Putin's visit to North Korea and Vietnam."
In response to a question about whether the visit is possible, he said, "It's progressing." However, he did not mention the specific dates of the visit. "We are preparing for this and will make an announcement at the appropriate time," he said. After a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jung Eun in Russia's Far East in September last year, President Putin received a letter of intent from Kim.
Since then, Russia and North Korea have continued to have high-level exchanges, including discussing President Putin's return visit to North Korea during the North Korean foreign minister's visit to Russia in January this year.
Meanwhile, President Putin also accepted an invitation to visit Vietnam during a telephone conversation with Vietnam's top leader, Communist Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, in March of this year.
