Newborn baby illegally adopted by couple living together dies after 2 weeks... Abandoned in a field in South Korea
The crime of a man and woman in Daegu who illegally adopted a newborn baby, left it to die, and then buried the body has come to light about a year after their crime.
The women and youth division of the Daegu Dongbu Police Station arrested a man in his 20s on charges of child abuse resulting in death and abandoning the body.
On the 4th, it was revealed that the suspects, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 30s, B, had been arrested and referred to the police. According to the police, the two, who were living together, had been threatening to illegally raise a girl through an open chat room on February 24th of last year.
The two are accused of giving birth to a baby and then neglecting to care for it, leading to its death. When the baby girl died at their home in Dongducheon, Gyeonggi-do, where they lived, the couple moved the body to Pocheon.
They are also suspected of burying the body in a field near their relatives' home in Pocheon. It is understood that the couple did not have the financial means to raise the girl, but illegally adopted her because they loved children.
After adopting the newborn baby, the girl's health deteriorated, but the couple did not take her to hospital for fear that their illegal adoption would be discovered, according to an investigation.
Police believe the girl died two weeks after she was illegally adopted. During the police investigation, the pair initially denied the crime, but communication records and other evidence revealed they were guilty.
When various evidence and documents were presented, he reportedly admitted to the crime. It was understood that the girl's biological mother was unmarried and could not afford to raise her, so on the day she was discharged from the obstetrics and gynecology hospital, she illegally gave the girl up for adoption.
The agency is conducting a separate investigation into the biological mother on charges of abandonment and neglect under the Child Welfare Act. The details of financial transactions between the biological mother and the suspects have not yet been confirmed.
The two men committed the crime after the Dong-gu district of Daegu requested the police to investigate on January 31 of this year, because the routine vaccination records of the girl, whose birth certificate had been submitted, were not verified.
The full picture came to light when the police asked the two men to help them. After about 100 days of intensive investigation, including investigations into communications and bank accounts, they uncovered the crimes committed by the two men.
