The "Miryang female middle school student gang sexual assault case" occurred in 2004 in Miryang, Gyeongnam, when 44 high school students gang-raped a female middle school student, even involving the victim's sister.
The case sparked national outrage, but the fact that no one was punished by law caused further controversy.
