On the 4th, when I looked at X (formerly Twitter), I saw many posts from Korean and international fans with the hashtag "Happy Birthday YUCHUN."
In commemoration of Yuchuan's birthday on the 4th, they posted old photos and videos of him, as well as various birthday content, to celebrate his birthday.
The hashtag became a trending topic with over 20,000 hits, drawing the attention of many K-POP fans. YUCHUN was involved in a drug scandal with his former girlfriend in 2019, and has been inactive since.
At the time, YUCHUN held an emergency press conference and claimed, "I have never used drugs. If it is true that I have used drugs, I will retire from the entertainment industry." However, he later tested positive for methamphetamine.
He was eventually sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year suspended sentence, effectively retiring from the entertainment industry. Since then, YUCHUN has been the subject of constant rumors, including disputes with the management office, and has become an icon of controversy.
And so, the theatrical release of his comeback film "Dedicated to Evil," which he made after retracting his retirement, was canceled. In December of last year, his name was included in the list of habitual high-income tax defaulters published by the National Tax Agency, and YUCHUN's outstanding debts amounted to 1,000,000 yen.
It turned out that the total amounted to 409 million won (about 40 million yen or more). As it became difficult for him to continue his activities in Korea, he moved his stage overseas and until recently, he was unable to attend expensive fan meetings in Japan.
He continues to be active, performing in concerts and dinner shows. At the time, he was criticized for the high ticket prices.
Although he seems a bit cold, YUCHUN recently opened a new social media account and has been posting a lot to date, continuing to communicate with his fans.
