South Korean ruling party lawmaker: ”Securing technology that both the US and China need is what guarantees South Korea's security”

"To survive the battle for scientific and technological hegemony between the U.S. and China, we must possess cutting-edge technology needed by both the U.S. and China. This is the only way to guarantee our national security."
On the 12th, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the ruling party People Power Party, attended the Future Leaders Forum held at a hotel in Seoul and gave a guest lecture on "Science and Technology."
Ahn said, "The nation with technological hegemony will dominate the world," and presented a "future survival strategy for Korea" amid the competition between the U.S. and China.
"But what I have witnessed in the past two years in the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee is that these four are no longer separate, and that science and technology are the foundation of diplomacy.
"A country that has cutting-edge technology that other countries cannot match is in a situation where its security is guaranteed," he said.
