「EXO-CBX」傾いた世論どうする…冷たい大衆そしてSMは契約履行訴訟提起
What to do about EXO-CBX's biased public opinion... Cold public and SM file lawsuit against them for contract performance
SM Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against EXO-CBX. Will they be able to find a solution with public opinion leaning in favor of EXO-CBX?
On the 13th, SM Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as SM) filed a contract enforcement lawsuit against EXO-CBX members Chen, BAEKHYUN, and XIUMIN.
The lawsuit states that they can no longer tolerate CBX's unreasonable behavior and that they will establish a new corporation, INB100, and demand the execution of the agreement that was created.
In response, SM stated that they would "respond in accordance with the law and principles." Chen, BAEKHYUN, and XIUMIN renewed their contracts with SM in December 2022. However, in June last year,
SM Entertainment has notified MC Mong that it will terminate the exclusive contract, claiming that this is an illegal act carried out by outside forces and naming singer MC Mong as the one behind it.
While the two sides continued to be at odds over the allegations of sexual contact, it seemed that the conflict had come to an end when it was agreed that EXO would continue their activities as a group under SM and their individual activities under the new corporation CBX.
However, last month, CBX's new corporation INB100 joined a subsidiary of One Hundred, which was jointly invested in by MC Mong and Chairman Cha Ga-won, who were named as the people behind Tempering.
On the 10th, CBX held an emergency press conference to claim that SM had treated them unfairly. According to them, SM had increased its distribution fee from 5.5% to 6.5% in the previous negotiations.
CBX responded by saying, "The agreement we created last year is no longer meaningful, so we will file criminal charges against the process of signing it and the Japan Fair Trade Commission."
However, CBX's press conference did not convince the public. SM further stated that CBX was
Even though it was a contract renewal made with CB Farm, they made various accusations to invalidate it, and then when he accepted the request to pursue individual activities on his own,
"X" himself signed the agreement. In addition, in order to protect "EXO", the tempering allegations from last year were overcome, but the tempering situation that was revealed through the press conference was disastrous.
He added that he couldn't help but feel a sense of dissatisfaction. When it became difficult to adjust the distribution commission rate, which CBX had taken issue with, BAEKHYUN was forced to pay the penalty for the Japan concert that he had unilaterally canceled.
It was revealed that they had taken into consideration the way in which EXO would perform. This conflict has led to the view that it may be difficult for EXO to continue their activities as a full group. In response, CBX said, "We are considering the possibility of EXO's activities as a full group.
However, fans' reaction was not positive as he once again pointed his sword at SM, which is in charge of the group's activities, just like last year.
Currently, DO, who is also a member of the group, is on a solo fan concert tour, and Suho is simultaneously working on his solo album and appearing in the MBNTV series "The Prince Has Disappeared."
They are of the opinion that they do not understand why SM once questioned their contract and declared an all-out war against them. CBX is trying to use the discriminatory distribution fees as a tool to renew contracts for their artists.
SM's position is that CBX only enjoyed its rights and abandoned its promises and obligations. In response, SM filed a lawsuit against CBX demanding that the contract be fulfilled.
If CBX does not fulfill the contract, there is speculation that SM may be held liable for damages for breach of contract, so CBX must turn around the biased public opinion.
Attention is focused on whether this will be possible.
