Samsung Electronics has announced that it will cooperate with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) to provide live coverage of the opening ceremony and sailing events at the 2018 Olympic Games in Paris.
The company announced that it will use the smartphone "Galaxy S24 Ultra." On July 26, the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris will be held outside the main stadium for the first time.
Approximately 10,000 athletes will enter the stadium on 85 boats. The boats will be equipped with Galaxy S24 Ultra cameras to take clear photos of each team.
A total of more than 200 of these smartphones will be used to shoot footage that will be streamed to the world via OBS. The Galaxy S24 will also be used to broadcast the sailing competition that will begin on the 28th.
The smartphone will be installed on the yacht, and the footage will be transmitted via a base station boat. Viewers can enjoy the dynamic footage as if they were taking part in the race.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with Orange, the French mobile communications company which is a local partner of the Olympics.
Samsung Electronics has also optimized the software to ensure stable shooting and transmission of HQ video even in environments with strong waves, wind, and high temperatures.
