Japan and South Korea's industry ministers hold talks and agree to establish ”Hydrogen Supply Network Development Working Group”
Taking advantage of the Japan-US-Korea Industrial Ministers' Meeting, the industry ministers of Japan and Korea met and agreed to establish a new "Japan-Korea Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia Supply Network Development Working Group."
South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said, "Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Deok-keun met with Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Takeshi Saito in Washington DC on the 26th (local time)."
"We also reviewed the status of implementation of the agreements reached at the Korea-Japan summit held in May and discussed ways to materialize the results," he said.
First, the two sides will expand cooperation in building an international clean hydrogen supply network.
In order to achieve this, the two sides decided to establish a new "Clean Hydrogen and Ammonia Supply Network Development Working Group." They also decided to promote the launch of the "Japan-Korea Hydrogen and Ammonia Supply Network and Utilization Cooperation Platform."
The two sides also agreed to promote cooperation in the field of clean hydrogen in the private sector, including through the promotion of the Carbon Free Energy (CFE) Initiative, which is being led by South Korea.
They also agreed to cooperate in stabilizing the global supply chain of core minerals and to continue discussions on supply chain cooperation in key industrial sectors.
In addition, they discussed cooperation plans in major multilateral fora such as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the Japan-China-Korea and Japan-US-Korea multilateral fora.
