In the 120th episode of Channel A's 'Recent Male Life - Groom's Class' ('Groom Training') broadcast on the 26th June, Shim Hyun-tak was seen preparing a 'reminder wedding party' by himself to celebrate his first wedding anniversary with his wife Saya.
Shim Hyun-tak and Saya, who disclosed their pre-marriage process through the programme last year, were deeply moved as they celebrated their first wedding anniversary before they knew it. While having breakfast at home, the two recalled that the 5th June was the 'first anniversary of their marriage registration' and exchanged stories about their 'wedding anniversary'. Shim Hyun-tak explained Korean culture, saying, "Actually, in Korea, weddings are considered more important, and the wedding day is usually designated as the 'wedding anniversary' rather than the date of the marriage certificate".
Saya, on the other hand, said, "In Japan, you can choose between 'marriage registration day' and 'wedding day'. In Japan, the wife changes her surname to her husband's when she submits the 'marriage certificate', so I think the 'marriage certificate' day is also important", she stressed. Along with this, she added "This year is our first wedding anniversary, so I want to do everything. Feelings are more important than events." After nodding, Shim Hyun-tak said, "I will definitely do everything this year" and promised to 'commemorate' the 'marriage registration day' as well as the wedding day in Korea and Japan a total of three times.
Lee Soon Chul, the groom's school headmaster, who was watching this, expressed his reaction, "Oh, we've registered our marriage?". However, even the head teacher, Lee Da Hye, said, "Come to think of it, we haven't done it yet either. We tried to register our marriage on the 6th May (the date of the wedding), but that day was a holiday", to everyone's surprise. Groom school students Denny Ahn and Enok surged forward as if 'teachers are not supposed to do this', and Lee Soon Chul joked, 'I'm going to teach them not to do it', which made the studio freeze up.
A few days later, Shim Hyun Tak asked Moon Se Yoon for help and together they prepared a 'Remind Wedding' party. In particular, Shim Hyung-tak made the audience laugh by operating a one-man battle of nerves, saying that he was inspired by Lee Da-hae and SE7EN's first wedding anniversary event, but he definitely did not want to lose. In fact, he rented a rooftop restaurant like SE7EN and Lee Da Hye couple and prepared the food setting and even the cake in a similar way. Lee Da Hye saw this and said, "At the time, I even made a trial plan for the party, and the clothes of my acquaintances were also sponsored in advance. On the other hand, my husband (SE7EN) actually did nothing", she revealed. Afterwards, Shim Hyun-tak finished all the party preparations himself, even under the hot sun, and Moon Se-yoon added warmth by hosting the event with "no pay", even though it was the day before his health check-up.
When Saya finally arrived, Shim Hyun-tak handed her a bouquet and entered as he had a year ago. Moon Se Yoon asked her to tell him how she felt on their first wedding anniversary, but Saya said, "Time seems to have gone by so fast. I was just happy", while Shim Hyun-tak laughed and said, "You can just look at my face". Shim Hyun Tak then said, "I can't live with losing" while cutting the 'desire cake', which was even bigger than Lee Da Hae and SE7EN's cake, making everyone laugh.
He also performed a 'lucky draw' event where he made Saya's wish come true, but when the 'Hawaii trip to coincide with Saya's birthday in October' came up, Saya showed her disappointment as this was a promise she originally decided to make, so it was not a present. In response, Shim Hyun-tak showed his sincerity by singing the congratulatory song that he couldn't sing through his tears at last year's wedding as a last trump card, and Saya thanked him, saying that Shim had become stronger as a husband. Finally, they ended the first anniversary event beautifully with a family photo together, even with their dog Kimpa.
