[Official] 2PM's Taecyeon to appear in Japanese Netflix series ”Seoul Mate”... co-starring with Isomura Hayato as Korean boxer
Ok Taecyeon of the boy group 2PM is attracting attention by taking on a new acting challenge in the Japanese Netflix series "Seoul Mate."
Taecyeon's management office 51K said, "Ok Taecyeon will be appearing in the Japanese Netflix series 'Seoul Mate', which is currently in production and is scheduled to air next year.
"Ok Taecyeon will play the role of Korean boxer 'Hwang Yo-han' and will visit fans around the world, including in Japan," the agency said.
"Seoul Mate" is about Ryu Narutaki (Hayato Isomura), who left Japan to leave everything behind, but by chance ends up saving his life with the help of Yohan (Taecyeon) at a church abroad, and then the two of them meet again.
The film depicts two people, uncertain about their bright future, healing and comforting each other's pain over the course of 10 years, set in Berlin, Seoul, and Tokyo.
The screenplay was written by Shunki Hashizume, an up-and-coming young man who is active in Japan in many ways as a novelist, scriptwriter, director, and creator.
He will be directing the film, and interest is building in what kind of pairing he will create with Taecyeon, who has been recognized for his acting skills in films such as "The Right Desire" and "The Moon."
Following the Japanese film "Grand Maison Paris," Taegi will be taking on his first Netflix original role in Japan with "Seoul Mate."
In this work, Taecyeon plays the role of Korean boxer Hwang Yo-han, who lived his life ignoring his own wounds, but then becomes a boxer in Japan.
She will lead the drama by expressing her delicate acting skills as she gradually realizes the meaning of love and life and undergoes a transformation through her encounter with Narutaki Ryu.
Taecyeon said, "I'm very happy to be appearing in the TV series 'Seoul Mate.'
There are so many characters and genres I have tried, but I wanted to broaden my horizons little by little and discover a new side of myself, and just then, I received an offer to appear in "Seoul Mate."
As I read the script, I was deeply touched by the lack and pain that Hwang Yo-han is facing, and that is why I chose this film.
I am practicing for the drama while I am filming, so I am working hard to portray the character of Yohan realistically, so I hope viewers will look forward to it."
"Seoul Mate" is scheduled to be released worldwide exclusively on Netflix in 2025.
