Seoul runaway accident: ”The more I stepped on the brakes, the faster I accelerated”...Rumors of marital quarrel: ”Not possible” = Korea

While police are investigating the driver responsible for the traffic accident at Seoul City Hall Station in South Korea, which resulted in 16 deaths and injuries, his wife, Ms. B (65), who was in the car at the time, spoke in a media interview about her condition before the accident.

"My husband's hometown is Seoul and he works in Seoul too," he said. "He's very familiar with the area and the accident site is not a place he's been to before, he's been there many times."
Regarding the fact that Mr. A was elderly, which was cited as one of the causes of the accident, she emphasized that "even though we are the same age, (my husband) is physically healthy."
In response to rumors that he may have stepped on the gas pedal in anger during a marital dispute, he said, "That's impossible.
"My husband and I went to church and lived a good life," she said. Regarding the deaths of nine citizens, she said, "I'm raising children, too.
As a parent with children in their 40s, I too feel very sorry," he said in his apology.
