According to the Korean fire department on the 5th, a fire broke out at an ink manufacturing factory in Seoshin-myeon, Hwaseong-si around 7:15 a.m. today.
The factory where the fire occurred is located a six-minute walk from the Aricell factory, a lithium battery manufacturer where 31 people were killed or injured.
A large amount of hazardous chemicals, including ethyl acetate and methyl ethyl ketone, were stored at the site, and fire authorities preemptively issued a Phase 1 response order immediately after the fire.
At the time, three workers at the scene were able to evacuate on their own, and no casualties were reported. The fire department deployed 31 units of equipment, including command vehicles, as well as 78 firefighters, including the Special Response Team and the Siheung Chemical Rescue Team.
The fire was extinguished around 8:30 a.m. and the response level was lifted.
