SKT teams up with Singapore's SingTel to cooperate on next-generation network technology - South Korean report
Telecommunications giant SK Telecom (SKT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with its Singaporean peer SingTel to cooperate on next-generation telecommunications network technology.
Prior to this, the two companies had joined the Global Telco AI Alliance, an artificial intelligence (AI) alliance comprised of major telecommunications companies around the world.
The MOU was signed as an extension of the alliance, aiming to strengthen AI linked to telecommunications and expand the AI market.
Based on the know-how of 4th and 5th generation (4G, 5G) technologies, the aim is to improve both customer experience and network stability and efficiency.
The two companies plan to promote exchanges of technical know-how and personnel in a variety of fields, including network management, construction, operation, and solutions.
Research on network construction and core network operation technology, technology strategies for wired and wireless 5G networks, development of 6th generation (6G) application cases, and ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) perspectives.
In addition to expanding the scope of cooperation with SingTel from technology exchange to development, SKT will also work to differentiate its services by building a new network.
The aim is to further clarify the policy for providing AI services through this.
