According to the China Railway Group, the number of rail passengers transported in the first half of the year increased 18.4% year-on-year to a cumulative total of 2,096 million.
The number of passengers traveled by rail in China rose 14.1% year-on-year to 777,952 million passenger kilometers. Both figures are the highest ever recorded for the same period. Currently, China ranks first in the world in terms of rail passenger volume and passenger-kilometers.
An average of 10,256 trains operated per day nationwide in the first half of the year, a 9.4% increase over the same period last year.
