China's rail passenger traffic reaches 2.096 billion passengers in first half of 2019, up 18.4% from same period last year - Chinese report

China State Railway Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as SRC) announced on the 12th that nationwide railway passenger traffic in the first half of this year increased by 18.4% compared to the same period last year.
According to the China Railway Group, the number of rail passengers transported in the first half of the year increased 18.4% year-on-year to a cumulative total of 2,096 million.
The number of passengers traveled by rail in China rose 14.1% year-on-year to 777,952 million passenger kilometers. Both figures are the highest ever recorded for the same period. Currently, China ranks first in the world in terms of rail passenger volume and passenger-kilometers.
An average of 10,256 trains operated per day nationwide in the first half of the year, a 9.4% increase over the same period last year.
