Cargo ship wrecked off the coast of Gageo Island, South Korea... All 14 crew members rescued
An explosion of unknown cause occurred on a cargo ship passing off the coast of Gageo Island in Shinan County, South Jeolla Province, southwest of South Korea. The Korean Coast Guard responded to the distress call and rescued the 14 crew members.

The 2,490-ton cargo ship A was reported to be listing to port in the sea off the coast of South Korea. The Busan-registered ship A had departed from Yeosu port the previous day without any cargo on board, and was en route to China when the accident occurred.
The Mokpo Coast Guard dispatched a total of 14 rescue teams, including four patrol vessels, three special vessels, and an air force, to the scene, and also requested assistance from a cargo ship passing through the area.
The 14 crew members were rescued by a cargo ship that was called in for help and transferred to a patrol vessel. The A vessel was floating tilted in the sea where the accident occurred, and the Maritime Police are patrolling nearby in case of a secondary accident.
The Coast Guard is currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident based on the testimony of crew members who said, "There was an explosion of unknown cause while cleaning the cargo hold."
