北朝鮮による「対北ビラ焼却」場面の異例的公開に…韓国統一省「意図を見守る」
Unprecedented release of footage of North Korea ”burning anti-North Korea leaflets”... South Korea's Unification Ministry ”will monitor intentions”
Regarding North Korea's release of footage of the country burning what appears to be an anti-North Korea leaflet that was sent from South Korea, the South Korean government said it would "watch to see what the intentions are."
A spokesman for South Korea's Ministry of Unification said at a regular press conference on the 15th, "It is extremely unusual for North Korea to make public footage of us (a South Korean group of North Korean defectors) burning leaflets that we sent.
"In response to North Korea's unreasonable and low-grade 'filthy balloon' provocation, our government has made it clear that it will take measures that are intolerable to North Korea," he said.
Meanwhile, Kim Yo-jong, vice director of the Workers' Party of North Korea, said in a statement released by the state-run Korean Central News Agency on the 14th, "I am the first president of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea today.
We have been informed that rubbish flyers and other items left by those filthy Korean scum have been found again near the country's borders and even in some central areas."
Kim said, "Currently, military units of all levels near the border, the Workers' and Peasants' Red Guards (reserve forces), and security and defense agencies are conducting a comprehensive search.
"While we are investigating, any waste found (such as anti-North Korea leaflets) is being incinerated in accordance with regulations, and we are also preparing for the possibility that more waste may be discovered," the agency said.
He continued, "Despite our repeated warnings, the Korean scum are acting in such a childish manner.
"They are not going to stop their nasty mischief," he said. "As we have already warned, those scum who continue to do this will face strong condemnation from their own people."
