Jaejung, ”Having part-time jobs since the sixth grade”... Reveals his difficult childhood (convenience store restaurant)
Jaejung, who is rumored to have a fortune of 100 billion won, recalled his financially difficult childhood.
On the show "I Can Cook," Jaejung revealed his canning recipe. On this day, Jaejung recalled his memories of working part-time jobs while cooking. He said, "I've had a lot of part-time jobs.
"I delivered newspapers when I was in sixth grade. We were happy, but we weren't rich," he said, adding, "Raising nine siblings with just two parents is hard work in itself."
He continued, "I hardly ever received an allowance. I received one twice," and "I was in sixth grade when I decided I wanted to earn my own money.
Later, when I was 16, I moved to Seoul, but I didn't receive much money from my parents," he said. Jaejung worked part-time as an extra in movies, handing out flyers, at a gas station, and at a construction site.
"When I was a trainee, I couldn't do anything other than day labor. 23 years ago, I would be paid 90,000 to 110,000 won for a day's work as a day laborer," he recalled.
Jaejung also recalled his first memory of eating jajangmyeon (noodles). He said, "When I was in the fifth or sixth grade, Korea was going through a currency crisis (a national bankruptcy crisis) and it was a difficult time.
It was impossible to eat out," he said. "My first experience with jajang was when my friend next door had eaten it all and found it on an empty bowl that was left out on the table.
It was very delicious. I'm so happy to be able to make and eat jajang with samgyeopsal like this.
It was a success," he said.
