North Korea has informed its citizens that the Summer Olympics have begun in Paris, France, the day after the opening ceremony. The Rodong Sinmun, the newspaper of the Workers' Party of Korea, published an article titled "The 33rd Olympic Games" on the 28th.

The Organizing Committee of the Paris Olympics said that North Korea will participate in wrestling (5 athletes), diving (10 athletes), and the Olympics will be held in Paris on Saturday.
A total of 16 athletes, including four men and 12 women, were registered to compete in seven events: athletics (three), table tennis (three), boxing (two), and gymnastics, track and field, and judo (one each).
This will be North Korea's first participation in the Summer Olympics in eight years since the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
The best result for North Korea was at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. At the time, North Korea had four athletes: gymnast Bae Kil-soo, boxer Choi Chol-soo, wrestlers Kim Il-il and Ri Hak-suk.
