[Official] (G)I-DLE costume issue resolved... 50 million won donated to the Red Cross
Members of the Korean girl group (G)I-DLE have donated 50 million won (approximately 5.56 million yen) to the Korean Red Cross.
On the 29th, the Korean Red Cross announced, "(G)I-DLE member MI
YEON, MINNIE, SOYEON, YUQI, and SHUHUA each donated 10 million won (approximately 1.11 million yen), totaling 50 million won (approximately 5.56 million yen) to the Korean Red Cross."
He continued, "This donation is to acknowledge (G)I-DLE's recognition of the Red Cross emblem, which is used as a symbol of protection of life under the international Geneva Convention, and humanitarian activities.
"(G)I-DLE decided to participate in the flood support and recovery efforts caused by the record-breaking heavy rains," he added.
The group was accused of using the Red Cross symbol without permission by wearing a lifeguard-themed uniform with the Red Cross symbol on it.
"No person other than those authorized by the company to use the Red Cross emblem, or any similar emblem, may use the Red Cross emblem (a red Greek cross on a white background) for business or advertising purposes."
Violation of the law will result in a fine of up to 10 million won. In relation to this, the Korean Red Cross stated, "It appears that the person used the material without being aware of its contents. There is no indication of deliberate or habitual use, so there will be no fine or penalty."
"We have no plans to take any further action and have contacted the management office to request a plan to prevent recurrence," and (G)I-DLE has since stated, "We are continuing to work on preventing recurrence and follow-up measures."
We are in close discussion with them and would like to apologize to all those involved for the inconvenience caused."
