Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Kim Myoung-soo visited the Marine Corps Command and the Northwest Island Command on the 6th and held a military briefing on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula.
Chairman Kim inspected the operational readiness and encouraged the Marines who are defending the Northwest Islands and the western border of the capital area.
Chairman Kim said, "As the enemy's strategic and tactical provocations are becoming more sophisticated, if the enemy provokes us, we will fight like our senior Marines did in the artillery battle on Yeonpyeong Island, risking their lives.
"We must be able to inspire fear in our enemies and confidence in our people by becoming an army that does not look back, does not hesitate, and acts boldly and resolutely," he said.
