South Korean government to significantly ”increase” initial ”settlement support funds” for defecting North Koreans

The South Korean government has decided to significantly increase the settlement support grant for defectors from North Korea from the current 10 million won (approximately 1.06 million yen).

Regarding this, the Ministry of Unification explained, "The current basic payment of 10 million won is the 2005 level, and we will consider measures taking into account the past price hikes and other factors."
