South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOI) has announced that it will develop the An Deokkeun Industrial
The US Secretary of Trade and Energy, Jennifer Granholm, will hold a US-ROK Energy Ministers' Meeting in Washington, DC on the 7th and 8th of this month (local time) to discuss the above-mentioned cooperation plan.
During the meeting, the two countries will explore ways to cooperate in reducing carbon emissions and strengthening energy security, and will also work together in the international community to decarbonize the industrial and power sectors.
To this end, the two countries agreed to forge a public-private partnership to maintain channels of cooperation and to hold ministerial-level energy policy dialogues and clean energy ministerial meetings.
They also discussed holding a regular private forum. Minister Ahn also said that Korea, as the chair of next year's APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), will "strive to promote the development of nuclear power, renewable energy, hydrogen and other areas."
They shared that they are considering one of the major issues to be addressed: "Expanding clean electricity in the APEC region through the use of carbon-free energy technologies, including renewable energy."
