The MOU will see LS Marine Solutions charter offshore support vessels (SOVs) to transport equipment and personnel for offshore wind power generation, and provide support to offshore wind power generation facilities in South Korea.
DFO plans to participate in the tender for the SOV by the end of the year. This will be the first case of SOV introduction in Korea. For this reason, DFO plans to teach LS Marine Solutions the know-how of SOV operation.
In Korea, until now, the people involved in the project had to commute to the offshore wind farms located about 10 kilometers from the coast every day.
Once V is introduced, it will be possible to operate at sea for long periods of time, even if offshore wind farms are located tens of kilometers away.
The company said, "In the SOV business, we use dynamic hull adjustment (DP) technology to precisely adjust the hull.
"The DP system and positioning system are important. Our company has experience in operating ships using DP systems and has a dedicated wharf, so we also have strengths in ship repair technology," he said confidently.
Going forward, the company plans to sign 15- to 20-year maintenance and repair contracts with each wind power plant, and also plans to expand into the European and American markets together with its group companies.
