The Democratic Party of Korea goes on the offensive, saying, ”The truth will be revealed through a special investigation into the death of a senior official of the National Human Rights Commission, and his wife Kim Kun-hee.” (South Korea)
Regarding the death of a high-ranking official of the National Anti-Corruption Commission, the Democratic Party of Korea stated, "A public official of the National Anti-Corruption Commission passed away due to undue pressure from the government over the gift of a designer bag to Mrs. Kim Gun-Hee.
"The Democratic Party spokesman Hwang Jeong-ya said in a written briefing on the same day, "The fact that we have to send the case to the investigative agency instead of finalizing the case is a good thing.
"However, the ruling party has said, 'Unconditional political offensives are not an atmosphere of cooperation.'
"This is pouring cold water on the opposition party's success," he said, threatening the opposition. If they feel even the slightest bit of shame, they should keep quiet. How far are they willing to go to protect the president and his wife?" he said.
He continued, "The only way out of this morass of privatizing and monopolizing power is through an independent investigation. The Democratic Party of Korea has passed the 'Special Investigation Act for Kim Kun-hee's Wife' and will continue to reveal the truth behind all the allegations to the end."
"I would like to express my condolences to the deceased. I am sorry," he said. On his Facebook profile, Lee Jae Myung wrote, "I pray for the repose of the deceased's soul. I am sorry."
The photo of the film was also changed to a black ribbon, which symbolizes mourning. Jung Hyun-hee, a member of the Democratic Party who served as the head of the Committee on Rights and Interests, wrote in a post on Feibook, "I paid my respects to the deceased the day before.
Unable to contain his bitter anger, he barked at a political official from the Human Rights Committee who was sitting there before leaving the funeral hall, saying, "You must atone for your sins over this unfortunate death."
Then, Jeong SUNG-YOON, vice chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee, came after him and shouted, "What on earth has our Anti-Corruption Committee done wrong?"
"But the tragic deaths have not shown any remorse, revealing the true face of the brutal Yoon Seok-yeol administration," he added.
