A woman in South Korea who abandoned her two-month-old daughter in front of a neighbor's house in the middle of winter was arrested 14 years later. The so-called "ghost child" is a child whose birth record is available but whose birth certificate has not been confirmed.

Suspect A is accused of giving birth to her daughter in December 2010 and abandoning her two months later in front of a house near her home in Seocho-gu.
The baby was later found safe and was adopted.
Last year, the police, at the request of a local government, investigated the 'ghost child' that was abandoned by suspect A.
An investigation into the incident has begun. At the time of the birth of the daughter, the name of suspect A was recorded in the guardian's personal information along with a temporary newborn number, but after confirmation by the local government, it was revealed that suspect A denied the fact of the birth.
The police, who had been struggling with the investigation and were unable to find out where the baby was, decided that this case matched an unsolved baby abandonment case from 2010, and after DNA comparisons,
The police confirmed that Suspect A was the biological mother. Despite the DNA results, Suspect A denied having given birth, but after being persuaded by the police, he admitted to the charges.
During police questioning, suspect A reportedly stated, "I had an affair, gave birth to a child, and decided I couldn't raise it, so I abandoned him."
