China's July car sales down 5.2% year-on-year to 2.262 million units - Chinese media

On the 9th, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers announced the industrial production and sales situation of automobiles in July. According to the published data, the number of automobiles produced in July was 2.286 million, down 4.8% year-on-year.

According to the association, China's auto market will enter the off-season for production in July, with some companies taking the high-temperature holiday.
The growth in production and sales volume slowed slightly due to the implementation of the 2019 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHS) and other measures. Production and sales of both passenger cars and commercial vehicles decreased compared to the same period last year. Exports of new energy vehicles and automobiles maintained an upward trend.
Meanwhile, the number of automobiles produced in the first seven months of this year increased 3.4% year-on-year to 16,179,000 units, while the number of automobiles sold increased 4.4% year-on-year to 16,310,000 units.
The rates are down 1.5 percentage points and 1.7 percentage points, respectively, from the January-June period.
