China's light industry grows rapidly, added value up 5.3% year-on-year = China

China's light industrial production grew rapidly in the first half of this year. The expansion of the consumer market and the optimization of the industrial structure are supporting the stable growth of the industrial economy.
According to the China Light Industry Federation, the added value of light industries above a certain scale increased 5.3% in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year.
In terms of production, of the 91 major light industrial products monitored by the National Bureau of Statistics, the production volume of 66 increased from the same period last year. Of these, the production volume of 18 products, including air conditioners and solar cells, increased.
In terms of consumption, retail sales of 11 types of light industrial products increased 4.4% year-on-year to nearly 3.8 trillion former (about 78 trillion yen), accounting for 15% of the total retail sales of social consumer goods.
The government said it will continue to promote the growth of the light industrial economy by creating a favorable development environment, including by expanding consumption opportunities.
