The 2024 Korea Display Industry Exhibition is being held at the COEX complex in the city. The exhibition is a forum for the Korean government and the display industry to introduce the latest technologies and products, and to promote new business ventures.
This is an annual event held to explore business opportunities. This year marks the 23rd time the event has been held. This year's theme was "The Frame," and each company showed off their technical capabilities.
The ultra-compact display for augmented reality (AR) has a resolution equivalent to that of a 4K TV, with a size of just 1.03 inches, the size of a coin. The ultra-high resolution display can be folded in and out 360 degrees.
The future of displays was presented, including a foldable smartphone (prototype) with a 6.7-inch screen size that can be folded up, and a self-driving leisure vehicle equipped with a super-large transparent display.
In the fields of materials, parts and equipment, a variety of products are on display, including red, green and blue stacked LEDs that have significantly improved the performance of micro LEDs and the efficiency of the manufacturing process.
Various events such as meetings and seminars will also be held at the same time. Twelve companies from the United States, Japan, China, Thailand and Malaysia who have expressed interest in purchasing will participate and seek to conclude contracts with Korean companies.
The opening ceremony was held on the morning of the 14th, with the participation of key stakeholders, including Lee Seung-ryul, Director of the Industrial Policy Office at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. At the opening ceremony, the high-efficiency, long-life tandem OLE for QD-OLED was introduced.
Six people, including Samsung Display's senior researcher Hwang Jae-hoon, who contributed to the development of OLED materials, received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award.
"We will continue to strengthen government support so that we can further strengthen our presence and expand into new markets such as automobiles and AR," he said.
