Two weeks after an electric car caught fire in Cheongna International City, Incheon, residents were shocked to find another fire had broken out in an apartment complex across the street.
The car in which the incident occurred was also a Mercedes, but it was not an electric vehicle. According to the Incheon Western Fire Station on the 14th, the incident occurred at around 7:49 pm on the same day, at an apartment building in the underground parking lot of Cheongna-dong, Seo-gu.
The Mercedes Benz caught fire, injuring a man in his 30s who was in the car and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The apartment building where the fire occurred was the result of an electric car fire in the underground parking lot on the 1st.
The apartment building across the street was the site of the fire, which left 87 cars and 783 cars burned. Firefighters who received the report put out the fire at 8:29 p.m., 40 minutes after it started.
Fire officials have confirmed that there were items used for suicide inside the car, and plan to investigate the specific cause of the fire once they have completed extinguishing the blaze.
On this day, when many fire engines were dispatched with sirens blaring, residents were once again worried about the large-scale damage that could occur.
However, fortunately, the fire was put out without any major damage, and residents were relieved. Fire officials said, "It appears that the fire did not spread beyond one car."
