Idol apologizes after posting Japanese photo on Liberation Day...Overseas fans ask ”What's wrong?” = Korea
Yeonjun, a member of the popular Korean idol group "TOMORROW X TOGETHER," posted a photo of his visit to Japan a few days before Liberation Day, sparking controversy and apologizing.
On the 16th, Yeonjun posted on his SNS and fan community platform "Weverse" that he "was unable to respect the historical meaning and significance of Liberation Day and uploaded the photo.
"I was careless when uploading this content," he said, "I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my wrong actions." Yeonjun added, "I am reflecting on this and will do my best to make sure this doesn't happen again in the future."
"I will be careful not to do anything that might cause trouble," he added, "Once again, I apologize to everyone." Prior to this, Yeonjun had posted photos he had taken in Japan on Liberation Day on social media, but later deleted them.
Due to schedule, the photos were taken in Japan and released after he returned to Korea, but because they were released on Liberation Day, some netizens criticized him for "not being aware of history."
However, overseas fans have responded by asking, "Why does he need to apologize?" On Yeonjun's SNS account, some overseas fans have commented, "Why is he a K-POP icon?
Responses included, "Does Dollar have to apologize for everything?" and "Why did he apologize when he didn't do anything wrong?"
Meanwhile, this is the first time that a celebrity has been criticized for posting content related to Japan on Liberation Day.
Last year, actress Go So-yeon posted photos of her trip to Japan on Liberation Day on social media, sparking controversy, and later deleted the photos and apologized.
