A man puts ”white powder” in a woman's glass after meeting her for the first time... A customer next to him reports him = South Korea
A plaque of appreciation was presented to a citizen who reported the incident to the police after seeing a man in his 50s secretly putting illegal drugs into the glass of a woman at the next table at a beer hall in Seoul.
According to a report by the JoongAng Ilbo on the 15th, the Seoul Gangbuk Police Station presented a plaque of appreciation to citizen A, who witnessed and reported an illegal drug crime that occurred at a beer hall in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul the previous day.
On April 3rd of this year, while drinking beer with his girlfriend at a beer hall, Mr. A witnessed the suspicious behavior of a man in his 50s at the table next to him.
When the two women he was with went to the bathroom, the man took some white powder from his sleeve and secretly poured it into one of the women's glass.
After that, the man invited the women back to have a toast and told them to empty their glasses. Ms. A thought this was strange and immediately called the police.
Police responded to the report and questioned the man about the incident, but he strongly denied it.
However, investigation revealed that the white powder the man had put in the woman's glass was an illegal drug. The man had prepared the illegal drugs in advance and committed the crime against the victim, whom he had met for the first time.
On the 2nd of this month, police arrested the man on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act and attempted special assault, and referred him to the prosecutor's office.
The number of crimes involving the practice of offering alcohol or drinks laced with illegal drugs is increasing every year.
Prior to this, in June last year, a man was arrested at a bar in Gwangju after being given alcohol laced with the illegal sleeping pill zolpidem by the owner, and then sexually assaulted and robbed the bartender.
A man who committed the crime was sentenced to four years in prison. A police official explained, "Because drugs have no taste or smell, in many cases the perpetrator secretly puts them in alcohol and commits the crime."
