<Interview> TAEMIN (SHINee) talks about his first participation in producing the 5th mini album ”ETERNAL”

TAEMIN shared his thoughts on the release of his 5th mini album "ETERNAL". Singer TAEMIN, who celebrated his 10th solo debut anniversary at 6 p.m. on the 19th, released his 5th mini album "ETERNAL".

This is TAEMIN's first produced album, in which he has participated in producing many albums, and it holds a special meaning. The album "ETERNAL" expresses the message that "No matter where I am, no matter what I do, TAEMIN is TAEMIN."
The album contains the artist's strong will and identity. It also frankly expresses the changes and constancy that have been faced over the years.
"The Air" is a song that harmonizes lyrics expressing a strong sense of identity and pride, a desire for change and self-expression with sharp electric guitar sounds, allowing you to feel TAEMIN's intense energy.
In addition, the double title song "Horizon" is an upbeat dance song in the modern synth pop genre, with a dynamic melody that gives off a sense of dynamism.
The song contains a story about Taemin trying to break out of his comfort zone and break out of the box. Other songs include the hip-hop style "GOAT" and the acoustic sound and lyrics.

A total of seven songs will be recorded, including "Vu". Below is a Q&A with TAEMIN. Q. This year marks the 10th anniversary of your solo debut. How do you feel?
I'm beginning to realize that I've been active for a long time, and I'm grateful to the fans who've allowed me to be active for such a long time and who continue to love me.
I'm very grateful to everyone who supported me. I prepared this album with the feeling of commemorating the 10th anniversary, so I wanted to show you what I've prepared as soon as possible. Q.
You have moved to a new management office, Big Planet Made Entertainment, but is there anything that has changed or remained the same from before?
If so, what are they? Actually, there doesn't seem to have been any big changes since the company moved. No matter where I am, I'm still in the same old routine.
I prepared in a way that was easy to follow. Of course, I learned a lot about how to communicate with the staff and how to work together.
I just created a new way of doing things, and I prepared the way I always do. Q. I participated in every step of the process for this album, from planning to the music, concept, and music videos.
The album introduction also contains a lot of talk about your identity, but what is the most important point in making this album?
I always worry a lot about what I should do and what I want to show, but this album is one that I tried to incorporate all those worries into.
Even though the situation has changed dramatically, I didn't attach any great meaning to it or consciously try to change anything. So, as always, I put in the music and sensibility that I like,
Q. The double title songs "Sexy In The Air" and "Horizon" each show different colors. Can you tell us about each song?
I think "Sexy In The Air" is a song that is especially suitable for this hot season. It's a very fun song with a retro sound that really stands out.
Dancing to it gives a cool feeling. Also, the atmosphere of the song picks up in the second half, and drill (a type of music) comes out, making it a fascinating song with a contrast.
And "Horizon" is a very energetic synth pop song, which was interesting because it was my first time trying out this genre.
Q. I think performance is an essential part of TAEMIN, but what was your biggest motivation for this promotion?
What do you think is the most noteworthy part of the performance? The choreography for this performance was created to match each section and to harmonize with the flow of the song.
Some parts are very minimal, some parts are very cool, and some parts are very conceptual. Please pay attention to the performance that changes according to the flow of the song.
Q. The pre-promotional content has already raised expectations, but what about the title song "Sexy In The
Can you give us some spoilers about the music video for "Air"? Tell us some stories about it, too.
The music video for "Sexy In The Air" was a remake of the previous album "The
With director Lee In-hun of "SEGAJI" who worked with me on the performance video for "Rizzness"
I shot the song. Since I've worked with him before, he had a good understanding of me and helped me think through a lot of things. It's a song that expresses my desire to move forward and my confidence.
The image was created with the mood of the time in mind, but the large-scale set and performance transitions created a sense of speed.
Through these scenes, sensual moments are expressed in an entertaining way, and I think that paying close attention to these parts will help you to understand "Sexy In The Air" better.
Q. Before the release of your new album, you held a listening party to introduce the songs to your fans for the first time. Can you tell us what that was like?
I'm always nervous when I release a new album, but the listening party is my favorite place.
I felt more comfortable because I was there with fans like you. It was meaningful to be able to talk about the process of each song, and to see the various reactions of the fans in person.
I'm glad I was able to do that. As I was talking to the fans, I was having so much fun that the conversation got longer and longer, and at the end, the section where I read the messages left by the fans got shorter.
It's a shame. Q8. Is there any reaction you'd like to hear or any goals you have for your fifth mini-album "ETERNAL"?
Through "ETERNAL," I was able to participate in the album a little more.
I hope that this album will be a catalyst for me to improve my immaturity and mature, and to be able to express my sensibilities and what I want to express more.
I think it was an opportunity to include that in the album. So, for my next album, I would like to include the process of me becoming more independent.
Q.Your first solo world tour, "Ephemeral Gaze", is coming up. How do you feel about it?
Please tell us what kind of stage you are preparing.
I'm very happy and grateful that we can finally tour.
I've imagined doing a tour like this ever since I dreamed of becoming a singer, so I'm very excited that it's finally coming to fruition.
I hope that this opportunity will give me the opportunity to meet many fans and go to places I have never been before.
I want to make good memories with all kinds of people. Q. Please say something to the fans who always support me. I am always able to try new things like this because of you all.
I feel like it took me a long time to realize this. I'm grateful for it more and more these days, and I'm grateful for the support I received.
