South Korea's prosecutors conclude that there is ”no suspicion” over Yoon's luxury bag allegations... to report to the prosecutor general soon

According to a South Korean legal source on the 21st, the first criminal division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office recently informed Seoul Central District Prosecutor General Lee Chang-soo that Kim is suspected of violating the Anti-Bribery Act.
The investigation concluded that the allegations were unacceptable, some four months after Prosecutor General Lee ordered the establishment of a special investigation team.
The investigation team is investigating a luxury brand pouch bag that Kim allegedly received in September 2022.
The group determined that the resignation was unrelated to the president's duties. The resignation was based on the friendship between Pastor Choi and Kim, and the fact that Kim had requested the burial of former U.S. Congressman Kim Chang-jun in the National Cemetery.
After examining the details of the gift, the court concluded that President Yoon "gave the gift as a token of appreciation in a personal relationship," rather than asking for something in return. As a result, President Yoon is not required to report the gift under the Anti-Bribery Act.
The investigation team, which was organized on May 2nd of this year under the orders of President Lee, is investigating the administrative officials of the Presidential Office, including Kim, and those involved in the case, including Pastor Choi.
The Supreme Prosecutor's Office has come to this conclusion after examining whether the bag is the same as the one seen in the video filmed by Pastor Choi. The District Prosecutor-General Lee plans to report the results of his investigation directly to the Supreme Prosecutor-General in the near future.
The report is likely to be released on the 22nd, when the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office (SPA) will make its regular weekly report. However, the Prosecutor's Office has announced that it will convene a committee to hear outside opinions to ensure the fairness of the investigation results.
In that case, it is expected that it will take even more time for a final decision to be made. Pastor Choi, who handed the bag to Kim, was arrested on the 23rd by the Supreme Prosecutors' Office as a person involved in the case (suspect).
The ministry said it would request the convening of an investigative committee by the end of the current term. There is also the possibility that Prosecutor General Lee could convene an investigative committee by his own authority. However, he has emphasized that he must end the case within his term.
