It was reported that Suga of the group BTS, who has been charged with drunk driving, will appear at the police today (22nd), but HYBE has stated that this is unfounded.
On the 22nd, HYBE's representative explained their position to EDAILY, saying, "It is not true that (SUGA) will be turning himself in to the police today."
Prior to this, media reported that SUGA will appear at the police on the 22nd and will be investigated regarding the drunk driving incident.
It was reported that he plans to appear before the police. Once the date for his appearance before the police is decided, he is expected to appear behind closed doors. Prior to this, at the regular police briefing held on the 19th, it was stated that "the procedure will be the same as for summonses for other suspects."
"We plan to do it according to the standards. We will not have to create a photo line," said the Traffic Investigation Division of Yongsan Police Station, which is handling Suga's drunk driving case.
The only entrance to the building is at the front. There is no underground parking lot or any other entrances. Therefore, if Suga were to turn himself in to the police, there is a high possibility that he would be caught on camera by reporters.
On the night of the 6th of this month, Suga was arrested by police after he was found drunk and collapsed while riding an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
At the time, Suga's blood alcohol content was 0.227%, far exceeding the limit for license revocation (0.08%).
Electric scooters are classified as "motorized bicycles" under the Automobile Management Act.
As this vehicle is classified as a vehicle under the Road Traffic Act, driving while drunk is a criminal offense. Suga has been serving as a community service officer since September last year and is fulfilling his military service obligation.
