In his opening remarks at the high-ranking party-government consultation held at the Prime Minister's residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno, Seoul, Han said, "We need to take measures to prevent this.
"Although it has become mandatory to install sprinklers on all floors of buildings, this requirement is not being met in older buildings that are not new," he said.
"Even in these cases, sprinkler systems are not mandatory, so I hope the government and the party will hold another in-depth discussion about fire prevention measures for these old buildings."
He added, "The secretary-general of the party proposed related bills in the 21st National Assembly. These included a plan to support disaster management funds when installing sprinklers and the installation of firefighting facilities in homes for the socially vulnerable.
There were plans for financial support and mandatory installation that were not related to the size of the facilities, but they were discarded when the term expired." Han said.
"When the prices of vegetables, fruits, livestock products, and fishery products rise, the public feels it very strongly and there are many reactions to it, so we have to be extra careful.
"We must take even more thorough measures to control prices," he said. Regarding fire prevention measures for electric vehicles, he said, "We must clearly point this out and set rules through this bill.
"I hope that through constructive discussion we can alleviate the risk of fires in electric vehicles."
