South Korea's National Security Advisor meets with France's top diplomat... Seeking cooperation between the two countries, praise for Russia-North Korea cooperation
South Korea's National Security Advisor Shin Won-sik met with visiting French President Emmanuel Bonn on the afternoon of the 3rd to discuss cooperation between the two countries and the issue of cooperation between Russia and North Korea.
The two leaders reportedly shared the view that it is necessary for Korea and France to strengthen cooperation with friendly countries.
According to the South Korean presidential office, Shin and Bonn met during discussions at the South Korea-France summit in November last year.
Based on this, they confirmed their intention to concretize and further deepen cooperation in a wide range of fields, including trade, investment, climate change, space, artificial intelligence (AI), and cultural exchanges.
In particular, the two countries recognized that there is a high possibility of cooperation in future strategic industries, and agreed to discuss specific areas such as energy, technological innovation, and digital infrastructure.
In addition, as the two countries approach the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026, they will accelerate joint efforts to achieve fruitful results.
Shin said, "Korea and France have ample room for cooperation on issues related to the Indo-Pacific region," and added, "We will work to come up with concrete cooperation measures through discussions between the foreign ministries of the two countries."
Bonn, meanwhile, said, "France's security concept is expanding to the Indo-Pacific region," and added, "I hope that in the future, we will be able to work together as a friendly nation on issues related to the Indo-Pacific region."
"We look forward to active cooperation with South Korea, a country that has a vision for open cooperation in the region," he said.
