Elon Musk's SpaceX subsidiary Starlink has received an order from the Brazilian Supreme Court to block X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil.
Starlink, through X (formerly Twitter), has filed suit against the local court in Brazil that shut down the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
While Starlink claims that the ruling is illegal, it said it would comply by suspending access to the platform.
The case directly targeted Judge Alexandre de Moraes. On August 30, Judge Moraes ruled that Elon Musk must appoint a legal representative to operate in Brazil.
The Supreme Court ordered the suspension of X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil for its allegedly inappropriate use of the app, and a five-judge panel later upheld the decision.
Starlink said it "will comply with the order blocking access to X (formerly Twitter) in Brazil, despite the illegal treatment of its assets by freezing them."
"We continue to pursue all legal options, as do others who agree that (Judge Moraes') recent order violates the Brazilian Constitution," he said.
" Starlink added that it has already begun legal proceedings to oppose the court order relating to the asset freeze.
The court order stemmed from an investigation led by Judge Alexandre de Moraes.
The complaint was based on allegations that false information related to Brazil's former president, Jair Bosonaro, was being spread through Twitter (formerly known as X).
Social media platform X could remain suspended in Brazil until it pays a fine of more than $3 million, according to a judge.
On the other hand, many X users see this decision on social media as an abuse of power and an attempt to suppress the freedom of expression of the Brazilian people.
Many X users in Brazil report being able to access the platform using a virtual private network (VPN), but Moraes
Judge Su's order also made it clear that anyone who uses a VPN to circumvent the blocks could be fined up to 50,000 reais ($12,800).
