The index rose above 50, the dividing line between economic expansion and contraction, indicating a slight recovery. Demand for consumer logistics increased in August, with a particularly rapid increase in e-commerce-related delivery services.
The total goods and services index rose to a high of 70.6. Orders for agricultural products, leisure goods, and outdoor equipment increased by more than 10% from the previous month.
In addition, the total business volume index for the rail, road, and air transport industries all increased from the previous month.
The business activity expectations index rose 1.7 points to 56.3, the highest level so far this year.
