On the 30th of last month, the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Court 4Exclusive (Judge Hong Da-seong) arrested a man on suspicion of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act (taking and distributing videos using cameras, etc.).
The court sentenced idol rapper A to one year and six months in prison. He was ordered to undergo a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and was banned from working in child and youth-related organizations and disability-related organizations for three years.
Mr. A was detained after the verdict was handed down because he was a flight risk. Prior to this, the prosecution had sentenced the defendant to three years in prison at the closing hearing in June, citing the poor quality of his crime.
On the same day, the court ruled that "the crime of illegal filming causes sexual humiliation to the victim, who has the right to sexual self-determination and is not to be filmed without permission, and
"This is a serious social problem, as it creates anxiety that people may be the subject of illegal filming and undermines trust among members of society," he said. "The degree to which the victims' right to sexual self-determination is violated is extremely severe.
However, the court said, "The defendant admitted to the crime and is remorseful, and has no history of receiving similar punishment for filming and leaking the footage."
A was on trial for allegedly taking 18 photos of his then-girlfriend B's body parts between July 2022 and May last year. He was accused of taking photos of B and other victims.
The suspect took illegal photos of the three members, forced them to wear eyepatches, and then took photos of them using a silent camera app. Mr. A debuted as an idol group in 2017, but left the group in 2019.
He took a break from activities in 2013 due to health reasons.
