A firecracker incident occurred at the 20th Jecheon International Music Film Festival, injuring 17 spectators. The incident occurred at around 9:34 pm on the 6th at the 20th Jecheon International Music Film Festival, held at Cheongpung Land in Cheongpung, Jecheon City, North Chungcheong Province.
During a performance at the International Film Festival, some of the firecrackers set off by the organizers flew into the audience. As a result of this accident, a man in his 40s and a woman in her teens suffered burns to their faces and necks.
The firefighters were among 15 people who suffered burns and other injuries and were taken to hospitals for treatment. Fire officials said the event was attended by about 2,500 people.
It is speculated that the police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident. The Jecheon International Music Film Festival posted an apology on their official website. The festival stated, "We apologize for the special effects-related accident that occurred during the Jecheon International Music Film Festival.
"We would like to express our deepest apologies to those who were injured and their families, and will actively support those who were injured and their families to ensure their speedy recovery and healing," the company said.
They also said, "We will do our best to ensure the safety of our audience and create a good performance environment for future Film Festivals," and "Once again, we sincerely apologize."
The Jecheon International Music Film Festival will be held in the Jecheon area until the 10th. The organizers plan to hold the event on the 7th without special effects.
