The sentencing date will be held. At the closing hearing on the 12th of last month, the prosecution requested that Park be sentenced to a fine of 3 million won (approximately 300,000 yen).
Later in his statement, Park said, "I was thoughtless and short-sighted," and added, "I'm sorry for hurting the victims.
Park's side said that they had no awareness of the falsehood of the comments at the end of the video, which were in the form of an opinion statement, and that they acted in the public interest.
Taking this into consideration, they requested that he be found not guilty. "Escape from Otaku Camp" is a YouTuber who is infamous among K-POP fans for generating many malicious rumors.
In order to criticize KANGDANIEL, Park posted a false video titled "The Messy Private Life of the Nation's Boyfriend Actor Idol" on his YouTube channel in 2022.
Park's side has admitted to posting the video, but claims that the charges do not amount to defamation, saying, "We believe the content of the video is true."
In addition to this, Park worked with famous celebrities and influencers such as IVE's Jang Won Young from October 2021 to June 2023.
He was also indicted without bond in May on charges of defamation for posting 23 YouTube videos criticizing the seven members, and is currently undergoing a separate trial.
Several K-pop idols, including KOOK and the group "aespa," have also filed lawsuits. Above all, they obtained the status of "escape from the otaku camp" and started the punishment of cyber wreckers.
Jang Won Young has also filed a lawsuit for damages for defamation, and an appeal trial is currently underway. In the first trial, the court ruled that Park should pay 100 million won (approximately 10 million yen) to Jang Won Young.
The ruling called for the payment of the money, but Park is not satisfied with the ruling and a second hearing is currently underway.
